Participants speak about the training day

We asked people to give us a little feedback about their day. So we asked a few people these two questions.

  1. What did you learn today?

    Tyrell from Food, What?!:

“I learned that we have the power to change our community if we try”

Georgia from Growing Youth Project:

“I learned that we can reach out in our community in a non-verbal way.”

  1. What will you take back to your project that you learned today?

Kim from Berkeley Youth Alternatives:

“When people come together, they can make a change”

Sequins from Berkeley Youth Alternatives:

“If more youth come together we can all make a change”

Day At Rooted In Community 10/11/08

Today we had a gathering with fellow R.I.C groups at Alameda Point Collaborative, in Alameda CA, to educate each other with what we have observed in our community. This mass meeting of educated groups is held to focus on how we can make a difference in our communities. We discussed issues on what we felt needed to be changed throughout our communities to better our people. Not only by educating them on whats right and whats wrong, but also offering ways to become more involved in our communities issues. One of the common solutions throughout our different issues was to get our local adolescent peers to acknowledge whats happening throughout the community. Knowing that people often seem to over look causes and focus mainly on effects, we plan to offer what we know as a guide to whats really going on and what can be changed through a common understanding.
